The second presentation in the SVD Australia Province’s online lecture series for this year, exploring the theme, ‘Integral Human Development in a Fragmented World’ will take place on Thursday, July 16.
Exploring the theme from the Magisterial and Interreligious Perspectives, the presentation will feature distinguished scholars, Fr Sebastian M. Michael SVD and Fr Wilibaldus Gaut SVD.
Fond farewell for Fr Truc as he leaves parish to take up new mission role
Fr Truc Quoc Phan SVD has bid a fond farewell to the parishioners of Emerald Parish in Queensland’s Central Highlands to move to Sydney and take up the role of Mission Secretary for the SVD Australia Province.
Fr Truc has been Parish Priest of St Patrick’s Parish in Emerald and its surrounding communities for six years, with his farewell Masses across the vast rural district having seen him drive a total of 900km

Alice Springs and the smaller Central Australian communities of Harts Range and Santa Teresa rolled out their warmest welcome mats recently to cheer on Roby Curtis, from Brisbane’s Emmanuel City Mission, as he completed his epic walking pilgrimage from Brisbane.
Roby walked 2500km over nine weeks with his friend and colleague Jeff Hoffard, raising just over $1 million for people in Brisbane experiencing homelessness and helping to celebrate the 40th anniversary of St John Paul II’s landmark address to First Nations peoples in Alice Springs.

Workshops explore synodal listening for Fijian Catholics in US
Catholics from Fiji and other Melanesian islands who are living and working on the west coast of the United States of America have been learning about synodality and ‘listening in the Spirit’, thanks to a visit from Fr Asaeli Rass SVD.
Fr Rass, who completed his term as Provincial of the AUS Province at the end of last year, has been visiting the US with the Archbishop of Suva, Peter Loy Chong.
Parish opens doors and hearts for prayer in wake of tragedy
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart parish in Alice Springs opened its doors for an extended period of prayer following the death of five-year-old Kumanjayi Little Baby in the Central Australian town last month.
Parish Priest, Fr Prakash Menezes SVD, said that on the day the little girl’s body was found, the parish remained open for prayer and lighting of candles until 9pm, with a steady stream of people making their way to the church.
